About the Project
We are revolutionising the way young people engage with sustainability through a virtual reality platform that integrates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into immersive, interactive experiences. Our platform will empower participants to deeply connect with critical global issues while exploring disruptive solutions through hands-on engagement. Whether in schools or non-formal settings, this platform encourages exploration, creativity, and problem-solving in an environment built for discovery.
Our VR platform will allow young people to experiment in a scaffolded, safe space where anything is possible. It enables them to take risks, test ideas, and build knowledge without real-world consequences. This dynamic environment fosters deeper understanding of complex concepts related to sustainability, innovation, and other important areas, making learning both engaging and impactful.
Additionally, the platform promotes collaboration on cross-disciplinary projects, connecting participants not only within their own communities but across regions and even globally. By encouraging the exchange of ideas and fostering diverse perspectives, it prepares young people for global citizenship and equips them with the tools to drive positive change in their own lives and beyond.
Approach
Our project began with a vision to empower young people to disrupt for sustainability. In collaboration with global networks focused on the Sustainable Development Goals, it became clear that schools are a crucial starting point for this mission. However, our tools are designed to reach beyond the classroom, applying just as effectively in non-formal settings where young people can drive change.
Through extensive research, we identified the key competencies needed to drive disruptive innovation for sustainability. These insights shaped the development of our resources and tools, which are designed to cultivate the next generation of change-makers. By empowering young people to engage deeply with global challenges and think critically about solutions, we aim to equip them with the skills to lead the transition to a sustainable future, both within and beyond educational institutions.
To enhance collaboration and overcome geographical barriers, we turned to virtual reality as the ideal platform. VR provides a dynamic, immersive environment that goes beyond traditional methods, facilitating global, cross-sectoral projects and sustainable change. This engaging, hands-on approach allows young people to experiment, collaborate, and innovate in a space where real-world limitations are no obstacle.
